STEERING SIMULATION

As part of Navinautics 2026, a prestigious national symposium hosted by AMET University’s Nautical Science Department, the steering simulator was conducted. This hands-on, immersive participation offered an exciting and challenging event focused on testing participants’ steering skills in a virtual environment. The goal was to enhance students’ understanding of vessel dynamics, reaction times, and precision under varying conditions using state-of-the-art steering simulators.

Event Description

The event aimed at fostering interest in automotive engineering and technology. The competition was open to students across different disciplines. Participants were required to navigate various steering challenges within a simulated environment, testing their ability to manage steering control, speed, and decision-making in virtual scenarios.

Event Highlights

Opening Remarks:
The event kicked off with instructions and rules by Capt. C. Rajendran sir and Capt. Pandiyan Mahadevan sir. The speech highlighted the significance of simulation technology in the automotive industry and its growing impact on education and research.

Simulation Setup:
The competition featured several state-of-the-art steering simulators, each equipped with realistic feedback, including force feedback steering wheels and multi-screen setups for an immersive experience. The route passage was set up by Capt. C. Rajendran sir. The simulations ranged from steering in narrow channel scenarios, providing participants with a diverse set of challenges.

Competition Format:
Each participant completed a series of steering challenges on the simulator, and their performance was recorded based on accuracy, time, and reaction to obstacles and their command skills.

General Instruction

Rules and Regulations:

  1. No one should be allowed to enter the steering simulator without permission.

  2. A suitable situation should be given before the event starts.

  3. The competition featured several state-of-the-art steering simulators, each equipped with realistic feedback, including force feedback steering wheels and multiscreen setups for an immersive experience.

  4. All participants were presented with certificates of participation, and the top performers received additional recognition.
